Collection of Sacred Art Virgin of Las Nieves

What the Sacred Museum Offers You

The visitor can travel through time, exploring the history and art of the Real Santuario de Nuestra Señora la Virgen de las Nieves through its finest artistic pieces.

The displayed pieces belong to the history of the Sanctuary, including gifts, relics, and discoveries… With immeasurable artistic value. Both the container and the content are worthy of admiration and are distributed primarily across 4 rooms.

Dressing Room of the Virgen de las Nieves

It was built in 1684, with the donations of the people and mainly with the donation from D. Juan Pinto de Gusila.

It is located behind the niche of the Virgin in the Main Altar.

In the Dressing Room, you can find the dresses and jewels of Our Lady of the Snow.

The Origin and the Silver

The Sanctuary preserves a large number of pieces of goldsmith work funded by donations or directly donated by the devotees.

Among the most important pieces in the collection are the Festive Altar of the Virgin, altar sets, votive lamps, and monstrances.

Votive Offering Room

Votive offerings are an expression of the piety and devotion of their donors. They were offered in fulfillment of a promise, as a way to bear witness to the miraculous intervention of the Virgin.

The museum’s collection of votive offerings is one of the most important in Spain. Its themes are varied, as are its forms and materials (paintings or painted panels, portraits and photographs, wax figures or those made of silver, gold, or metal).

The Brotherhood of the Slaves of the Virgin

Founded by one of the most interesting personalities in the cultural scene of his time, D. Juan Pinto de Guisla, in 1681, he is credited with the expansion of the Sanctuary. Members of the brotherhood worked tirelessly to renew, enrich, and adorn the Sanctuary with the finest works to bear witness to their perpetual devotion to the Virgin of the Snow.
