The Camerine
THE CAMERINE
The place where we find ourselves is the Camarín de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, a room that resembles the Royal Chamber or the Sancta Sanctorum, built in 1684 with alms from the people and with the wealth contributed by the Licenciado Don Juan Pinto de Guisla, who, as Visitor General of the Island, ordered the construction of the Camarín behind the Main Altar so that the image could be dressed and undressed in it, as Visitor General of the Island, ordered the construction of the dressing room behind the High Altar so that the holy image could be dressed and undressed in it, so that the ritual could be carried out in a more dignified manner and the image of the Virgin could be taken out and placed directly in the niche with greater security.
